How to Draw A Pokeball – Let's get Started!

Step 1drawing pokeball step 1

We will start this guide on how to draw a Pokeball by drawing the outline of the ball. We will be drawing a circular shape, so you may want to use a drawing compass for this and the next step.

As mentioned earlier, we won't be drawing a simple circle in this guide, and for now we will be focusing on one half of the Pokeball.

If you are using a drawing compass, simply draw half of a circle using the tool, but at the halfway mark draw some small bulges for where the two halves of the ball connect.

Once you have drawn these lines then you are ready for step 2!

Step 2 – Next, draw the other half of the Pokeballdrawing pokeball step 2

You can complete the other half of your Pokeball drawing outline in this second step. This is another step where you could use a drawing compass for the curve of the ball.

The curve for the bottom half of the ball will begin at the central bulge that you drew in the previous step.

That will finish off the outline for the Pokeball, and we can start to add some more details in the next few steps!

Step 3 – Now, draw the central part of the Pokeballdrawing pokeball step 3

Part of the iconic design of the Pokeball is the round part connected to the central band of the ball. That is the aspect we will be drawing in this step of our guide on how to draw a Pokeball.

To do this, we will extend some slightly curved lines inward from the bulges that you drew in the outline in the previous steps.

These lines will culminate in a central circular shape in the middle, and this will serve as the button the opens the Pokeball.

Step 4 – Next, draw some details for the button of the Pokeballdrawing pokeball step 4

Step 4 of your Pokeball drawing will be quite a simple one for you to do! All we will be doing for now will be adding some detail to the button that you drew in the previous step.

To do this, you can draw a circle inside the button, and then draw another one inside of it close to the outline.

Once you have the button details drawn, we can finish off the drawing in the next step before we add some color to it.

Step 5 – Now, finish off your Pokeball drawingdrawing pokeball step 5

In the various Pokemon shows, games and other media, the Pokeballs will usually look nice and shiny. We will be drawing this shining detail in this step of our guide on how to draw a Pokeball.

To start these details, you can draw a circular shape near the top of the Pokeball for a reflective detail. Then, draw a small curved line near the left-hand corner of the central band of the Pokeball.

Then, you can finish off by adding another curved line starting at the central band and to the side of the ball on the bottom half.

Once you have drawn these reflective details, you have finished the final details of the Pokeball! You don't have to move on quite yet though, and there is a lot that you can do to put your own spin on this drawing.

One cool idea you could go for would be to draw your favorite Pokemon emerging from the Pokeball. There are also different variations of Pokeballs, and you could draw some of these variations.

How will you personalize this drawing before you color it in for the final step?

Step 6 – Finish off your Pokeball drawing with some colordrawing pokeball step 6

This final step of your Pokeball drawing will see you adding some awesome colors to your image. The classic Pokeball colors are red, white and black for the central band.

We went for this color scheme in our reference image, but we changed it up a bit by using several shades of red and greys for the two halves.

Then we used some slightly darker greys for the central band of the ball to finish it off.

If you wanted to create different Pokeball variations, you could also use different colors to create ones such as a Great Ball or even the impressive Master Ball!

If you drew any extra details or added some Pokemon, you can also incorporate more colors by coloring in these aspects.

Then you can have some fun playing around with some different art mediums and tools. We can't wait to see how you finish off this drawing!
